It was the Countess of Wessex’s birthday on Thursday, and the Queen wished her daughter-in-law the happiest of birthdays in the form of an adorable Twitter post.
Sophie, who is married to Queen Elizabeth’s youngest son, Prince Edward, turned 57 on Thursday.
The Queen took to Twitter yesterday to post a charming photo of Sophie, smiling with poise and elegance as she cuddled a gorgeous black Labrador puppy.

In the image, The Countess stuns in a bright white lab coat and maroon under-shirt, with small glimmery drop-earrings, and a subtle light-pink coloured lipstick.
Sophie spent her birthday on Thursday working as a volunteer at St. John Ambulance from a National Health Service (NHS) vaccination centre in Surrey.
She has played a particularly active role in the royal environment since the stepping-down of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in recent years.
The Queen regularly shows her support for Sophie’s volunteer and charity work, and the Countess regularly sings her mother-in-law’s praises. Recently, Sophie spoke about the Queen’s particular support for her work as an ambassador for the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness.
“Her Majesty is so supportive of this kind of work. For her to have chosen blindness as the main pillar of the Queen Elizabeth Dimond Jubilee Trust during its time was so reaffirming,” The Duchess said in a recent video interview.

During a reception at Buckingham Palace in 2019, Sophie publicly referred to her mother-in-law as “Mama”, showing her undeniable affection and respect for the Queen’s support.
“Mama, when I have returned from my travels I have been so proud to share with you the work I have witnessed being carried out under the umbrella of the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust and the care of so many people working so hard to save and cure sight,” the Countess said.
In 2020, Sophie was praised for her hard work and generosity amid the Covid-19 outbreak when she helped cook meals and package essential items for frontline workers during the pandemic.
Rhubarb Hospitality group posted a photo of Sophie as she worked, writing “Thank you to her Royal Highness the Countess of Wessex for joining us today and working so hard in the kitchen at rhubarb to prepare food for our heroic NHS hospital teams,” a post from Rhubarb’s Instagram read.
As the Countess of Wessex continues to show her dedication to the royal family and her country, she sets an example for future all future royals, and us all.
