Over 100 mourners came together on Thursday, February 29, at a heartfelt service to bid farewell and celebrate the life of Vyleen White, who tragically lost her life in an alleged stabbing incident.

The sombre gathering took place as friends, family, and community members shared fond memories of White, who had been shopping with her six-year-old granddaughter when the shocking incident occurred on February 3. The alleged attack left the community in shock, mourning the loss of a beloved individual.

Friends at the service expressed their grief, describing White’s death as senseless and emphasising that she was taken from them too soon. The atmosphere was heavy with sadness, yet it also carried a determination for justice and a commitment to honouring White’s legacy.

White’s daughter, Cindy Micallef, delivered an emotional eulogy, declaring that her mother’s death would not be in vain. She spoke passionately about moving forward, ensuring justice for her mother, and turning this tragic event into a catalyst for positive change within their lives and the broader community.

“We want to move forward and mum’s legacy will live on and we’re not going to let that go,” Micallef began.

“We’re going to make sure we get justice for mum and nothing will stop us until that happens.

“This is a catalyst for change in our lives and our community.

“This will not be in vain. We are taking this to the next level … we’re going up and we’re going to get justice for this.

“We don’t want mum to be remembered for how she went. We want her to be remembered for the legacy of her life.

“There will never be enough words to adequately describe mum.

“Unconditional love was always there no matter the circumstance, and with us, there were a lot of circumstances.”

Following the emotional tributes and speeches, a private burial was held, allowing the family to say their final goodbyes in a more intimate setting.
