A three-year-old girl, who went missing on the Sunshine Coast yesterday afternoon, has been found dead, Queensland Police say. The girl went missing from a home on Cootharaba Road, in the Noosa Shire, at about 3.30pm on Monday.
Queensland Police said in a statement that at around midnight police divers found her body in a dam approximately 150 metres from the house.
“Sadly, the three-year-old girl reported missing in Cootharaba yesterday afternoon has been located deceased,” a police statement read. “Around midnight police divers located the child in a dam approximately 150m from the house.

Last night the three-year-old girl’s grandmother took to a local Facebook group to call for assistance in the search.
“This is our granddaughter that is missing… she wearing this top with dark blue skirt/pants with white poker dots,” she wrote. “Any help would be greatly appreciated but we just been told police won’t bring in divers until tomorrow .. so if there are any divers out there that would like to search dams tonight thanks.”
Just after 8pm, Queensland Police posted on Facebook to say they have “significant resources allocated … and do not require any additional people”.
“Police wish to offer their sincerest thanks to all the wonderful community members offering to come out and assist with the search,” the police statement read. “At this stage we have significant resources allocated to the location of this little girl, and do not require any additional people.”
