Surviving 10 years on morning television is no easy feat, but Lisa Wilkinson has gone from magazine editor to beloved morning presenter throughout her decade-long reign on Today.
To mark her 10-year anniversary on the show, the team decided to surprise her with a special performance by her favourite Aussie artist Daryl Braithwaite and boy did it go down a treat.
Newsreader Sylvia Jeffreys was interviewing Lisa about her time on the small screen when the melody of ‘Horses’ started playing in the background.
Looking confused, Lisa turned in her chair to see Daryl walking towards her singing the classic ballad.
It wasn’t long before the tears started flowing and Sylvia jumped out of her chair to give her co-star a hug.
It’s not the first time Lisa has had an encounter with the singer. In 2015, she famously photoshopped herself into the ‘Horses’ film clip and reduced her co-stars to fits of laughter as she danced around on the beach belting out the tune.
Today broadcast from Lisa’s hometown of Campbelltown this morning and she appeared overwhelmed by all the fans who showed up to celebrate the day with her.
“Thanks so much to everyone who came on down to say hi today…and especially to everyone who has watched us over the last ten incredible years. You are the reason we do this every day,” later wrote on Instagram.
