Mere months after leaving parliament, rumours abound as to what former Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s next career move would be, and if reports are to be believed he could be headed for the rugby pitch.
According to Danny Weidler from Nine News, Morrison reportedly approached a number of National Rugby League (NRL) bosses recently, pitching himself for a role on the Australian Rugby League Commission (ARLC).
Weidler revealed the PM had “made it quite clear” that he is interested in getting involved in the ARLC.
“In the lead-up to Origin I, Scott Morrison was speaking to some powerbrokers in rugby league and he made it quite clear to them that he would like to be a part of the Australian Rugby League Commission,” Weidler said.
Despite the PM’s reported interest, Weidler said the opportunity would have to wait.
“Now he won’t be able to do that straight away because there are no vacancies, but this is something that could happen in the future,” he said.
“I spoke to Peter V’landys, the chairman, today and asked him about it and he said he has not had a direct approach from Scott Morrison at this point. It’s going to be a case of watch this space.”

The alleged career change interest comes as a shock to many Australians, with many taking to social media to express their opinions on the news.
The sense of entitlement is astounding. Frydenberg tried the same thing with AFL and thankfully got no where. Morrison would cause more damage than what it’s worth.

I mean, if you’re a businessman and you know a guys has been sacked from every other role he has had, would ya??
Not to mention how polarising having an ex PM and a party brand representing sport would be

I assume this must mean he is planning to quit his job as an MP pretty soon then. He can’t be a government MP while also serving on the ARLC

After losing the 2022 Federal Election to Anthony Albanese, many have been wondering what the future holds for the former PM. He currently remains a member of the Australian Liberal Party.
