Classic chocolate hazelnut brownies

With so many different recipes circulating around, choosing what to bake can become more difficult than the actual baking process. That’s why sometimes it’s just good to go back to your roots and make an absolute classic that will be a guaranteed crowd-pleaser.

Well this mouthwatering brownie is exactly that! No matter what the occasion, this classic hazelnut and chocolate flavoured brownie is bound to smiles on all of your guests faces. Serve it up warm from the oven or at room temperature the next day before sitting back and enjoying the flavours from the traditional treat!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (70g) hazelnuts
  • 2 cups (660g) smooth hazelnut spread
  • 4 eggs, lightly whisked
  • 1 cup (150g) self-raising flour
  • 200g dark chocolate, coarsely chopped

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 180C. Grease and line the base and sides of a 20cm square cake pan.
  2. Place the hazelnuts on a baking tray. Bake for 10 mins or until just toasted. Place in a clean tea towel and gently rub to remove skins. Coarsely chop.
  3. Combine the choc-hazelnut spread and egg in a large bowl. Add the flour and gently fold to combine. Add the hazelnut and chocolate and stir to combine. Spoon into the prepared pan and smooth the surface.
  4. Bake for 40-45 mins or until firm to touch. Set aside in the pan to cool completely. Cut into pieces.
