14 ways to use Coke around the home!

Coke

We all know Coke isn’t good for us, but even knowingly, a lot of us still indulge in a glass or two here and there. But, what you probably didn’t know is that Coke has a whole heap of awesome uses other than drinking. They pretty much prove just how unhealthy it is for us but they are great, convenient and things you probably haven’t thought of before.

1. Remove grease stains on clothes by emptying a can of Coke into your wash along with the usual detergent and run it through a normal cycle. This is also quite effective for removing things like blood and as an added benefit, it also helps to deodorise clothes.

2. If your pots, pans and saucepans have been burnt and now have a black film on the bottom that is almost impossible to remove, simply cover the base with 1cm of Coke and let it sit over a low heat. After about 30 minutes, wash the pot or pan as usual and the Coke should help the black film to lift and dissolve.

3. De-rust your household items by soaking them overnight in a dish filled with Coke. Follow with a good scrub in the morning and they will be as shiny as new.

4. Coke makes a highly effective window cleaner as it cuts away dirt. Pour a can of Coca Cola over the window (or soak a rag in Coke) and wipe it clean. Follow with a clean layer of water.

5. Get rid of bugs and insects by leaving small dishes of Coke around the house and garden overnight. The sugary smell will attract the insects and their digestive systems won’t be able to handle it. Make sure you clean up the areas in the morning with a dust pan and brush.

6. Remove maker stains from carpets. Cover the area lightly in Coke and pat down. Follow with a soapy water scrub and the stain should lift.

7. Stop stingers. If you get stung by a bee or another insect, pouring cold Coke over the affected area will help to relieve the pain. Make sure you wash well later with soapy water as it will get sticky!

8. Remove oil stains from your garage and drive way by pouring a generous amount of Coca Cola over the stain, letting it sit for an hour or two and scrubbing lightly with soapy water afterwards.

9. Clean your car battery terminals by lightly coating each in Coke and wiping clean. It will cut the grease and grime.

10. Clean your china by rubbing a cloth soaked in Coke in small, circular motions. Rinse well and dry gently.

11. Kick start your compost. Add some Coke to your compost and the acid and sugar will help to feed the microorganisms and keep it healthy.

12. Ge extra smooth skin by mixing Coke with your moisturiser and applying liberally before going to sleep. Shower in warm water the following day.

13. Shine aluminium by coating it in Coke and rubbing in small, circular motions with aluminium foil.

14. Clean stains from the toilet by pouring it into the bowl, leaving it with the lid shut for 20 minutes, scrubbing and flushing.

These are all incredibly useful ways to use Coke, but the fact that it can replace everyday cleaning products is a little concerning for our health. However now when someone questions you over the Coca Cola in the cupboard you can say it is for cleaning… Or something like that…
