The royal family have marked Princess Anne’s birthday with the release of a beautiful portrait of the Queen with her only daughter.

The second child of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip turned 69 on Thursday and the family made sure it didn’t go unnoticed as they took to social media with the special photograph. Looking as beautiful as ever the Princess Royal could be seen sitting comfortably next to her mum on an elegant green couch with her arm wrapped around the Queen’s back.

The two smiled happily for the camera with Anne sporting a casual yet classy dark green sweater over the top of a buttoned up shirt. Next to her the Queen also chose to forego the formal wear, looking comfortable in a white shirt, pale pink cardigan and plaid skirt.
