Gary ‘Angry’ Anderson has penned a tearful thank you to the thousands of fans from across the world for their support following the tragic death of his son Liam last month.
The 71-year-old broke his silence on Saturday, posting an emotional message to those who reached out to the family after Liam was beaten to death in the north Sydney suburb of Queenscliff.
Holding back tears the Aussie rock star explained the struggle the family has been through after finding out the beloved 26-year-old had died.
“G’day, recently my family and I went through our darkest hour so far in our lives and I was amazed by within a few days, and the weeks following, the hundreds, if not thousands of messages we received from my official page, Facebook, messenger,” he said in a video posted on YouTube.
“Of course people wrote, left cards and flowers. I tried to answer all of those personally, as many as I can and still am but so many messages came in from right around Australia and right around the world, offering their hearts to us in support while we struggle with our new life.”
Anderson went on to say how touched he was by the messages and how those words helped to pull him and his family through the difficult times.
“I want you to know that each and every one of those messages, I read and my children read, each and every one of those messages, meant so much to us,” he explained.
“So this is a thank you from us to you, all of you that sent those messages. You could never know how grateful we are and how much those messages meant.”
Within a few hours of posting, the video, which was shared on Facebook, received over 7,000 views and more than 100 comments from devoted fans.
People from across the world sent further messages of support for the father and his family, while others shared their own stories of loss.
“Angry you opened your heart to us all, is it any wonder we cradled it in our hands and tried to heal it,” one person wrote. “Of course we couldn’t but we all tried so hard with words of love and comfort to you and your family.”
While another added: “Angry, hopefully you and the family will find some peace with your loss. Rock on brother”.
And a third said: “Oh Angry, I have tears… you and your beautiful family will always have my support not just now but throughout the days that are to come… take care”.

He died shortly after being airlifted to hospital via emergency helicopter due to the extent of his injuries. Only days later Flame was accused of bashing his friend to death.
While original reports claimed the two were “best friends”, Angry later confirmed in an exclusive interview with the Daily Telegraph that was not the case.
He reportedly struggled to keep his composure and held back tears as he spoke to the reporter, insisting he knew virtually nothing about Flame before the terrible incident.
Liam was laid to rest three weeks after he was allegedly murdered in the violent attack. Many tears were shed as the 26-year-old was farewelled for the final time by friends and family at a chapel in the Sydney suburb of North Ryde.
According to The Daily Telegraph, Liam was carried inside in a white coffin where more than 400 mourners gathered for the emotional funeral.
The song ‘Close to You’ by The Carpenters was reportedly played during the ceremony, bringing many to tears as they remembered the young man who was following his father’s footsteps into the music world as an aspiring rapper.
