Choosing a name for a baby is one of the most difficult decisions a parent will make with many nowadays turning to creative names over the classics.

While naming a child after their grandparent has been popular in the past, mums and dads are going in a different direction naming their bundles of joy after shoes, countries or even fruits.

However, there are also some who opt for bogan names with unique spellings that may have never been heard of before.

Kidspot recently released a list of the most popular bogan names and some may surprise even the most creative of types.

Coming in at the top position is Bylan followed closely by Chavelle in second place and Carridyn in third.

Next is Espirit which is the French word for spirit, and rounding off the top five is Hairry, similar to the more commonly known Harry.

The names only get more unique from there with Silverina, Xayvya and Tannyyn making an appearance alongside perhaps the most creative of them all, Squire Sebastian Senator.

But not all parents a fans of the creative types with Baby Center predicting a comeback of 1970s inspired names in 2019.

Popular names from that decade set to make a reappearance include Brian, Barry and Patricia. Other names to look out for include Cliff, Christine and Susan.

Popular culture also seems to be playing a role in the names parents are giving their children. For example, the popularity of Peter has increased after the release of the Peter Rabbit movie earlier this year, while Beatrix (the name of the author of the Peter Rabbit book series) and Jemima (after character Jemima Puddle-Duck) are also set to increase in popularity.

It also seems like characters from popular cartoon Paw Patrol are becoming increasingly popular, with names including Ryder, Chase, Marshall and Rocky also being registered on the website. The Frozencraze also shows no signs of slowing down, with Anna and Elsa also predicted to be big next year.

Game of Thrones is thought to be behind the rise of names including Aria, Sansa, Tyrion and Jon, while Julia and David from the popular drama The Bodyguard are also set to be big.

Travel destinations also seem to be influencing baby names, with the likes of India, Dallas, Israel and Cairo all being searched more than ever before.
