Princess Eugenie has paid tribute to her divorced parents Prince Andrew and Sarah ‘Fergie’ Ferguson by sharing a series of stunning wedding snaps in celebration of their 33rd wedding anniversary.

The 29-year-old, one of the few royals to have her own social media account, took to Instagram on Wednesday to wish her parents a belated wedding anniversary, thanking them for bringing her and older sister Beatrice, 30, up together as “best friends”.

“Who else has ever forgotten to congratulate their parents on their wedding anniversary,” she said in the caption. “I’m a day late but I wanted to celebrate my parents getting married 33 years ago.”

Eugenie concluded the post with: “Thank you for always being the best of friends and bringing us up together.”

In the glamorous shots, the Duchess of York can be seen wearing a beautiful silk white gown that featured a cinched-in waist and dramatic sleeves, coupled with a standout diamond chocker necklace. Meanwhile, Andrew looked dashing in a classic black military uniform.

Royals fans were quick to comment on the post, with one writing: “I think they’re amazing and don’t enough credit for their co-parenting.”

Another added: “Great parents to bring you girls up together! True love.”

While a third wrote: “Friendship is the most important part of a marriage & they have that even if they don’t have the title.”

While the former couple have remained great friends over the years, Fergie’s relationship with the royal family has been rocky over the years.

Andrew and Fergie announced their separation in 1992 and just months later photos emerged of the mother-of-two sun baking topless and getting her toes sucked by American financial adviser John Bryan on holiday in France.

In 2010, the duchess was caught in a sting by the now-defunct British tabloid News of the World that showed her trying to sell access to her ex-husband for £500,000.

Despite the controversies, the pair, who finalised their divorce in 1996, have remained close with Fergie living at the York family residence, the Royal Lodge, in Windsor. Despite dating other people over the years, Andrew and Fergie have remained under one roof and were said to have lived at opposite ends of the house so they could carry out their relationships without disrupting each other.

More recently, the former couple have stepped out together to attend a number of public engagements. Last month, Andrew and Fergie surprised racegoers as they put it on a stunning display at the Royal Ascot.

However, despite the rumours of a reconciliation, it appears the duchess and Andrew aren’t going to be making an announcement about their relationship status anytime soon.

A spokesperson for Fergie denied the claims in April and told The Telegraph: “The Duke and Duchess remain good friends as they have been for many years, and nothing has changed.”
