Sweden’s adorable little royals are stealing hearts globally after their appearance in the royal family’s new Christmas video. The quick snippet gave fans a rare look into the Crown Princess’ stunning yet cosy living room, where the family had gathered together to wish everyone a happy First Sunday of Advent on November 29.

The video was posted to the royal family’s official Instagram account and showed Crown Princess Victoria – who is heir to the Swedish throne – with her husband Prince Daniel and their two children, Princess Estelle and Prince Oscar, sitting together to light the first candle of Advent in their Christmas-themed living room.

Traditionally, the First Sunday of Advent means lighting a single candle that represents hope, which was a message that the Crown Princess, 43, wanted to highlight in her short video. “Today is the First Sunday of Advent. Advent means arrival and hope – something that feels especially important this year,” she said.

Princess Estelle, 8, with her plaits adorned with festive green bows, took centrestage to send the family’s best wishes to everyone watching: “We would like to wish you all a happy First Sunday of Advent!”

Her father, Prince Daniel, 47, took the responsibility of lighting the first candle of the month before holding a match towards the adorable Prince Oscar, 4, so he could blow out the flame. The young prince donned a cute onesie costume for the event and was described in the post as “Gingerbread-man Prince Oscar”.

As is tradition, on every Sunday of Advent, a new candle is lit to represent a new stage of the festive season. With the first candle representing hope, the others in the following weeks represent love, joy and peace.

Royal fans gushed over the new festive video, with one writing: “Absolutely love this”. While another said: “Thank you our lovely Crown Princess family”.

Meanwhile, another fan thanked the royal family for their hard work during this time, writing: “I think it is wonderful and nice to have such a present royal family in these times. A tribute to your commitment to all difficult issues at present and your presence on social media. Thanks.”

The video comes after the Crown Princess Victoria’s younger brother Prince Carl Philip and his wife Princess Sofia tested positive to the coronavirus late last month. The pair are reportedly experiencing mild symptoms and are “feeling well under the circumstances” but are still isolating at home with their children.
