The world may be at a standstill with the outbreak of Covid-19, but that hasn’t stopped the royal family from doing what they can to help those in need.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their three children George, Charlotte and Louis have been isolating at Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, but instead of relaxing in their pyjama’s, William and Kate have been dedicating their time to check up on organisations assisting the vulnerable amid the coronavirus crisis.

Taking to social media this past weekend, the royal family shared a couple of snaps from their home offices, while they discussed an issue that is close to their heart.

“Self-isolation and social distancing can pose huge challenges to our mental health,” the post on Instagram read. “In recent weeks the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been in regular contact with organisations and patronages to understand the issues they are facing during this difficult time.”

In one snap, Catherine could be seen sitting at a desk. She looked polished in a pink power suit; her brunette locks slightly waved.

In another photo, Prince William could be seen sitting by a marble fireplace, engaged in a phone call.

The post revealed that the pair recently spoke to the CEO’s of two leading organisations which work to support the mental health sector, Mind Charity and Place to Be. The conversations come as Public Health England released new guidance to help support people during the Covid-19 outbreak, including the update of the world-leading Every Mind Matters platform, with specific advice on maintaining good mental wellbeing during the outbreak.

The duke and duchess commended the mental health sector for working together to deliver the new guidelines and said it will make a great difference to those suffering during this time.

“It is great to see the mental health sector working together with the NHS to help people keep on top of their mental wellbeing,” their Instagram post read. “By pulling together and taking simple steps each day, we can all be better prepared for the times ahead.”

Their latest post comes days after the pair made an important public appearance at the London Ambulance Service 111 control room to meet staff who have been taking NHS 111 calls from the public.

The duke and duchess looked uncharacteristically serious for the outing, as they met with key members of staff and those dedicated employees handling the huge influx of calls from concerned people, as the number of confirmed cases of the virus continues to rise in the UK.

Catherine dressed smartly for the occasion, opting for a salmon pink two-piece suit, with a simple white sweater underneath. Meanwhile, Prince William wore a navy blue suit with an open-collared shirt and matching navy jumper underneath.

During the visit, Their Royal Highnesses spoke to staff members and the Chief Executive of the London Ambulance Service, Garrett Emmerson, about how they are dealing with the increase in demand on the NHS 111 service.

They also heard about how members of the public can help alleviate pressure on the system by using advice available online at nhs.uk/coronavirus before contacting 111.

Speaking during the outing, William said: “Catherine and I were proud to visit staff working at NHS 111, to pass on our personal thanks, along with those of my grandmother and father, to staff working around the clock to provide care and advice to those that need it most.”
