Carrie Fisher’s daughter pays touching tribute on first anniversary

Billie Lourd is marking the one-year anniversary of her mother’s death with a touching tribute.

As you’ll recall, Carrie Fisher tragically died last year shortly after she finished filming scenes for the latest instalment, Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Lourd recently shared a photo on social media to honour her mother’s anniversary.

“My momby had an otherworldly obsession with the northern lights, but I never got to see them with her,” Lourd wrote. “We journeyed to northern Norway to see if we might ‘see the heavens lift up her dark skirts and flash her dazzling privates across [our] unworthy irises.’ And she did.”

She added, “I love you times infinity.”

Fisher’s former co-star, Mark Hamill is also paying tribute to the late actress.

Hamill shared a collage of photos to social media, including some of his favourite memories with Fisher.

Star Wars director Rian Johnson paid tribute to Fisher in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. After the credits, a dedication appears onscreen that reads, “”In Loving Memory of Our Princess, Carrie Fisher.”

Fisher was also honoured at the Los Angeles premiere earlier this month. When Johnson took to the stage to introduce the film, he took a moment to let everyone know that Fisher, who played Princess Leia in the Star Wars series, wouldn’t be forgotten.

Fisher, who was 60, died from sudden cardiac arrest on December 27, 2017, after suffering a medical emergency during a transatlantic flight from London to Los Angeles four days earlier.

Her final Star Wars role, The Last Jedi, is in theatres now.
