Italian dream! Lisa Wilkinson shows off vibrant summer wardrobe in holiday snaps

The Project host Lisa Wilkinson has avoided the chilly winter weather in Australia by jetting off overseas to beautiful Italy with her husband of 26 years Peter FitzSimmons.

The television personality stepped away from her usual reporting duties to enjoy a holiday in the gorgeous European country, soaking up the rays on the coast in a variety of stunning summer outfits.

While her colleagues are busy at work on the Channel 10 program, Lisa has been keeping her fans up to date with gorgeous snaps online as she travels around the beautiful region of Sicily.

In one photograph shared on Instagram, the 59-year-old looked happy and relaxed in a red maxi-dress with flower patterns while posing beside her husband high above the coast at a medieval village called Castelmola.

Lisa sported a wide brim hat and pair of dark black sunglasses to protect her from the summer sun, accessorising with a small brown handbag slung over her shoulder.

“Made our way up to heaven today… actually, it was a gorgeous little medieval village called Castelmola high, high above the coast behind Taormina in Sicily, but it sure felt like heaven,” she wrote alongside the snap.

Adding: “Also got my first taste of lemon granita! Oh. My. Lord! Who’s been keeping that stuff a secret??”

Elsewhere Lisa sported a casual, navy blue dress with open shoulders, which she tucked in at the waist with a thin belt and paired with some comfy brown sandals for ease walking around the region.

The mother-of-three once again opted for a hat and sunglasses for the day out as she posed in front of a quirky green door, shortly after arriving in the country.

Not all of her beautiful photographs featured herself though with several scenery shots also posted to her Instagram page for all to see. One showed the view from a hotel they had visited with a clear blue sky and flurry of buildings perched on the mountain side making for the perfect snap.

“Yesterday’s lemon (and coffee and pistachio and strawberry and almond and chocolate) granita pitstop spot at Taurmina, @belmondgrandhoteltimeo in the shadow of the grand ruins of the town’s magnificent Greek Theatre dating back to the 2nd Century BC,” Lisa explained on the post.

“Today we work off all that sugar (we had A LOT of granita!) by climbing that baby there on the left, Mt Etna… Europe’s highest and most active volcano. We’re goin’ in…”

Fans were quick to comment on the stunning photographs with many reminiscing on their own holidays to the beautiful location.

“Love Taormina! My dad’s family are from there and you’re right it is a little piece of heaven,” one person wrote. “Enjoy the lemon granita it’s ridiculously beautiful.”
