Lisa Wilkinson shows off youthful looks in recreated snap from 20 years ago

If you’re on social media, chances are you’ve seen the #10yearchallenge sweeping the world.

The craze has captivated everyone from Reece Witherspoon and Ellen DeGeneres to millions of ‘regular folk’ worldwide and sees people share two photos of themselves side by side — one from 2009 and one from 2019.

Now The Project’s Lisa Wilkinson and Aussie journalist Mia Freedman have gone one better, recreating a photo that was taken 20 years ago with their kids.

In an Instagram post, Lisa posted the two images side-by-side with the caption: “Forget your wussy #10yearchallenge … how’s about trying the #20challenge on for size!!

“This first pic was taken when my wonderful friend @miafreedman and I had our babies @billifitz (bottom right) and @luca_lavigne(bottom left) just four days apart… and twenty years on we are still sharing the laughter, the tears, the growing pains, the hormones (ours, more than the kids’) and every frustrating, joyful thing in between. And the fact that our friendship is now passing its way down through the generations is EVERYthing.”

Many fans were quick to comment on the lovely throwback, with one writing: “This is the best.”

Another added: “This made my day! That is hilarious!”

While a third wrote: “Nailed it.”

Meanwhile, others pointed out how great she still looks, with one writing: “Ageing has treated you very well. Beautiful.”

Since the #10yearchallenge started doing the rounds, plenty of social media users all over the world have jumped on the bandwagon.

Last week, Big Little Lies star Reese Witherspoon, 42, joined in on the fun sharing a throwback snap of herself.

Posting to Instagram, she wrote: “Time sure does fly when you are having fun!! #10YearChallenge.”

But the photo left many fans baffled, with many commenting how little the actress has changed.

“You haven’t aged a day,” one commentator wrote.

Another added: “You look the same in both.”

Elsewhere, comedian Ellen DeGeneres shared a side by side shot of her hosting her daytime show, joking that she still sits the same way all these years later.

“I never realised how differently I hold my hand now,” she wrote.

Meanwhile, Today Extra host David Campbell and Today presenter Deborah Knight even had a crack at the challenge, posting a throwback snap of themselves on social media much to fans’ amusement.

David showed one of the biggest changes over the 10 years, with the entertainer sporting a decidedly thinner frame nowadays.

Deborah, who joined the newly revamped Today team last week, was easily recognisable with her blonde hair styled very similarly to how it was 10 years ago.

This isn’t the first time Lisa has treated fans to a hilarious throwback snap. Last year, the 59-year-old shared a stunning 1970s throwback. In the snap, The Project host sported iconic pencil-thin eyebrows and a Hawaiian print top.

She wrote: “Jeez I loved a skinny brow back in the 70s, hey? And that Hawaiian print top was my absolute fave!

“This is me aged 17 on a family holiday to the Gold Coast… one of the very few shots I have from that time. I seem to remember I was very good at hiding from the cameras back then. And there was certainly no such thing as a ‘selfie’.”
