Since his retirement was announced last week, a lot of people have been wondering what’s next for Prince Philip.

At 95-years-old, the Queen’s husband might be hanging up his hat on public life but there’s no slowing him down in his hobby.

He gave his first interview since retiring this week, and in it he opened up about his hobby.

It turns out Prince Philip is a big fan of carriage driving.

He was even photographed and videoed carriage driving around the grounds of Windsor Castle on Wednesday.

In his first post-retirement interview, Prince Philip spoke about his love of carriage driving and other horse sports over the years.

“I started driving because I’d been playing polo, and I decided I’d give up polo when I was 50,” he said.

“I was looking round to see what next, I didn’t know what there was available.

“And I suddenly thought, well, we’ve got horses and carriages so I thought why don’t I have a go.”

It turns out Prince Philip borrowed four horses from his stables and practised before entering a few competitions.

“The second competition I ever took part in was the European Championships,” he said.

“I came in not quite last, but very nearly.”

Good on him!
