As you might have read earlier this week on Starts at 60, Aussie entertainer Rolf Harris has been awaiting a verdict in the latest court case against him.

Harris was facing seven charges including a sexual assault charge and six charges of indecent assault in a London court.

Now, after several days the jury has come back with a verdict.

The ABC reports the 86-year-old was found not guilty on three of the charges.

But the jury was unable to reach a verdict on the other four charges, despite more than 26 hours of deliberations.

Among the charges he was found not guilty of was allegations he assaulted a blind and disabled woman in the 1970s.

As reported by the ABC, his solicitor spoke to the media outside the court on behalf of Harris.

“Mr Harris is grateful for the care and attention this jury has given to his case and for the not guilty verdicts returned,” his solicitor said.

“Given the uncertainty as to what will now happen no further comment can be made.”

And it’s not over yet for Harris.

The prosecution could end up pursuing the four other charges in a fresh trial.

In the meantime, he’ll continue to serve a five year and nine month prison sentence over similar charges he was found guilty of in 2014.

NewsCorp reports that the Aussie entertainer could be free within months.

Are you shocked by the decision of the jury? What do you think about Rolf Harris?

  1. Guy Flavell

Why subject Harris to any more trials ? Surely his current sentence of 5 years odd
will see him die in jail anyway. Perhaps enough is enough in this case ?

  2. Jan Jakowenko

Why should I be shocked by the decision of the jury? The jury obviously were not convinced that he was guilty. Isn’t that what trial by jury and justice is all about?

    • Dave Pritchard

Yes, this page is getting a little too “Murdochy” for my liking. I thought the same as you. I’ve been seeing trial-by-media for most of my life (.e.g. The Chamberlains ).Just shut the # up while trials are in progress, and let juries do their duty !!!

      • Russ Moffat

Totally agree Dave. He’s been hung drawn and quartered by the media. The media is truly despicable!

  3. susan hunt

I find it very hard to believe he would do such things , the publicity will probably mar the rest of his life

  4. Joan Tisdell

These sexual abuse allegations occurred many many years ago, I don’t agree or disagree as to whether Rolf Harris is or was guilty, the point of the matter is the time factor! It seems very strange that supposedly older women now come forward to lay complaints at Mr Harris’s doorstep instead of doing so 40 years ago??? Are they looking for their 5 minutes of fame? All I can say is what a way to get noticed!!

    • pam barber

have to disagree with Joan, 40 years ago if and when something like that happened you were told you were .either making it up or not to tell anyone else as you would not be believed, the police sure as hell back then did nothing
