The one tip that will make your pet’s flight less stressful

It’s not the most ideal situation but sometimes we need to transport our beloved pets, and one of the only ways we can do that is by putting them on a flight.

These types of travel experiences can be quite stressful for our furry members of the family, especially when they find themselves in dark, confined spaces, with new and unfamiliar sounds, smells and sights.

Thankfully, there are some ways to make your pet’s flight so much easier, and less stressful, and it’s very simple to do.

This tip was shared by an airport staff member on a Reddit forum, who had herself experienced dealing with pets on flights.

“If you checked your dog there’s about a 30 per cent chance it’s terrified before it even gets on the plane, who knows how scared it gets during the actual flight,” user RabbitMix said.

“Bag room agents will usually try to comfort a scared animal, but all we can really do is talk to it, so if you write your pet’s name on their carrier it usually helps a lot,” she said.

But what if you happen to have a cat on board? Well, as the staff member says, cats behave completely different.

“I’ve never seen a cat who was scared in the bag room, cats don’t give a f***.”

So, if you have a dog that needs to be put on a flight, be sure to write the animal’s name onto the crate they’re placed in to make sure the bag room staff can comfort them if they become distressed.

As for cat-lovers, you’ve got nothing to worry about, because cats aren’t scared of anything, really, are they?
