Dangerous stunt shocks cruise ship passengers

Jun 05, 2017

There’s silly behaviour on a cruise shop, and then there’s this outright dangerous stunt that’s recently surfaced online.

It’s only common sense not to climb over the railing of a cruise ship, right?

Well, one teen has ignored that common sense – laughing as he was filmed climbing over the safety railing of a Carnival Cruise ship.

The dangerous stunt shows the boy swinging out over the ocean while the ship was cruising past the coast of Texas.

One passenger told KPRC2 seeing the boy climb over the railing of the cruise ship made her “heart beat super fast” and “nervous”.

“Kids just don’t understand that they are not invincible,” she said.

“He thought he was having fun and never considered the possibilities.”

Another passenger described the boy’s actions as “incredibly dangerous.

“He would have been sucked under immediately,” he said.

Carnival Cruises has released a statement, saying they were investigating the incident.

“We strongly condemn any such behavior by our guests that puts themselves or others at risk,” the statement said.

It’s not the first dangerous behaviour reported on a Carnival Cruises ship this year.

Earlier this year a 33-year-old mother-of-four fell off the same ship after she sat on a railing at 2am.

Her body has not been found, despite a near-24 hour search.
