Camilla and Dame Judi enjoy ice cream together on girls’ day out

Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, and Dame Judi Dench may be two of the most famous British women in the world, but they looked just like a regular pair of gal pals as they cooled off with an ice cream together on Tuesday.

The Duchess of Cornwall visited former royal residence Osborne House on the Isle of Wight, which was built for Queen Victoria, who died at the property, between 1845 and 1851 by the same London architect who built the main facade of Buckingham Palace.

Prince Charles’ wife was joined by Dame Judi, 83, who filmed the 2017 movie Victoria & Abdul at the impressive property, in which she played Queen Victoria, and is now Patron of the Friends of Osborne House.

Camilla, 71, looked effortlessly chic in a structured white shift dress with frill detailing which she paired with one of her signature pearl necklaces, matching pearl earrings and a pair of black wayfarer sunglasses.

While the Oscar winning actress opted for a lightweight linen jacket, worn over a white v-neck t-shirt and beige slacks.

The pair, who have met on several occasions, slurped on their traditional ice cream cones, complete with chocolate flakes, as they posed for photographs. Camilla and Judi then toured the newly refurbished Swiss Cottage, as well as the main house and the estate’s impressive gardens.

In a statement released by Clarence House, it was also revealed that the pair enjoyed a carriage ride together down to Queen Victoria’s private beach, which has now been opened to the public.

Following the death of Queen Victoria, in 1901, the house was deemed ‘royal surplus’ and given to the state. Speaking about her much loved home, the monarch one said: “It is impossible to imagine a prettier spot.”

Parts of the pavilion were opened to the public as early as 1904 and the former royal holiday home is now cared for by English Heritage and is open to the public year round.

After visiting the house, Camilla also received a warm welcome from locals, including a group of schoolchildren, before taking part in a naming ceremony for the new red Funnel ferry Red Jet 7.
