This one sign means your flight has been delayed

Jun 05, 2017

There’s so much anticipation, excitement and build up when it comes to boarding a flight and heading on an exciting new adventure. But there are signs to look out for, so at least you can prepare if there are long delays expected for your flight.

In a conversation thread about travel tips, one airport employee shared one secret for passengers to look out for. She shared that there’s one particular sign to look out for on the actual tarmac that can be a signal that your flight is going to be delayed.

“If you ever see a yellow flickering light on a pole on the tarmac before you board, that’s a storm warning,” she said. “You’re going to be delayed because ground crew is not allowed to be out there.”

So, the next time you begin to walk out onto your plane, look out the window and have a look to see if a yellow light is flashing out on the tarmac. And if it is, then be prepared to stay in the plane cabin for longer than usual before your plane departs.

If you can be better prepared for a delay, then it will be much easier for you to deal with the situation. Have your books ready to go and out of your hand luggage, set up the entertainment facilities and get out your crafting projects so you have something to do while you wait for the ground staff to be able to be allowed on the tarmac.

There are a lot of ways to help make the time go faster, so as long as you’re prepared and look out for the signs, you can make a difficult situation much easier to manage.
