The Princess of Wales looks every bit the future Queen she is at Diplomatic Reception

The Princess of Wales attended the annual Diplomatic Reception at Buckingham Palace looking every bit the future Queen that she is in a jaw-dropping gown and tiara.

The Princess joined her husband Prince William along with other senior royals, King Charles and the Queen Consort Camilla, welcoming over 500 members of the Diplomatic Corps to the State Rooms at Buckingham Palace.

The King and The Queen Consort, accompanied by The Prince and Princess of Wales, this evening hosted the Diplomatic Reception.

Princess Catherine has never looked so regal, wearing a ruby-red gown embellished with beadwork and a blue sash, but the look was tied together by the Lotus Flower Tiara, a stunning accessory the 40-year-old hasn’t worn since 2015.

According to The Court Jeweller, the Lotus Flower Tiara, consisting of pearls and diamonds, was made by the late Queen Elizabeth II’s mother, out of a necklace received as a wedding gift in 1923.

The Princess included a subtle tribute to the late Queen by wearing a pair of earrings owned by her grandmother-in-law, completing her royal ensemble with her yellow Royal Family Order pinned to her shoulder.

The Royal Family Order is an honour bestowed to female members of the Royal Family by the reigning Monarch, with Kate’s being given to her by Queen Elizabeth II during her reign.

The Queen Consort, the Countess of Wessex, the Princess Royal, the Duchess of Kent, the Duchess of Gloucester, and the Honourable Lady Ogilvy, were also bestowed the honour of the Royal Family Order.

Other women in the Firm given the order by the late Queen include The Queen Mother, Princess Margaret and Diana, Princess of Wales.

This year’s Diplomatic event is the first year the Reception has been hosted since the global pandemic, as Queen Elizabeth had followed advice to cancel the previous two events, including one that was supposed to go ahead at Windsor Castle earlier this year on March 2, ahead of the Ukraine conflict.

The event comes as the Prince and Princess of Wales have continued with their royal duties despite Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle releasing the trailer for the upcoming tell-all documentary Harry and Meghan.
