The British royal family reunited for a festive event at Windsor Castle on Tuesday evening.

The Queen was joined by Prince William and Catherine, who recently returned from a three-day train tour of the UK, as well as Prince Charles and Camilla, Prince Edward and Sophie and Princess Anne, as part of an event to thank essential workers and volunteers from the area.

The royal family’s official Instagram account shared several pictures from the outing, with one showing the family social distancing on the steps of Windsor Castle as a band played Christmas songs. The 94-year-old monarch stood out in a festive bright-red coat and matching hat, while Sophie, Catherine, Camilla and Anne also put their best fashion feet forward.

Sophie wore a stylish light-grey coat with a chocolate-brown scarf, while Catherine opted for a long dark-green coat that she paired with a black fur stole. Camilla didn’t disappoint either, stepping out in an eye-catching purple coat, while the Queen’s daughter Anne opted for a more subtle neutral-looking coat.

“Members of the Royal Family enjoyed Christmas songs played by a @salvationarmyuk band during an event at Windsor Castle to thank local volunteers and key workers,” they captioned the post.

“The Queen thanked the band for their performance, as well as for the wider work of the Salvation Army during the pandemic and over the Christmas period.

“Their Royal Highnesses the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, the Earl and Countess of Wessex and the Princess Royal welcomed a number of local volunteers and key workers from organisations and charities in Berkshire, who will be volunteering or working to help others during Christmas.”

Royal fans were quick to comment on the photos, with one writing, “Beautiful reunion.” Another commented, “I love the Queen. So lovely.” Another said, “These pics make me so happy.”

It comes more than a week after it was widely reported that the Queen and Prince Philip will spend Christmas alone at Windsor Castle, due to the pandemic. The royal family usually spend the day at the Queen’s Norfolk estate, Sandringham House.

According to The Guardian, the Queen will also reportedly not be attending a Christmas Day service at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, in a bid to avoid crowds.
