Entertainment giant, Disney, has affirmed its commitment to diversity and inclusivity by vowing to make half of its characters represent racial minority groups as well as the LGBTQIA community.

During a company call discussing the conglomerate’s Reimagine Tomorrow campaign, Disney’s General Entertainment Content President, Karey Burke urged the company to do more to ensure its content is more inclusive.

“I’m here as a mother of two queer children, actually,” Burke said on the call.

“One transgender child and one pansexual child, and also as a leader.

“We have many, many, many LGBTQIA characters in our stories and yet we don’t have enough leads and narratives in which gay characters just get to be characters and not have to be about gay stories.”

During the same video call, Disney Diversity and Inclusion Manager Vivian Ware discussed the company’s plan for a genderless theme park.

“So, we no longer say ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls … It’s hello everyone or hello friends…We no longer say, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls…We say, dreamers of all ages,” Ware said.

Piers Morgan recently expressed his frustration with Disney and their decision to go “woke” after the corporation’s announcement that the park would be removing the use of gendered pronouns.

Appearing on the Fox News program The Five on Thursday, March 31, the outspoken host blasted the entertainment giant, calling them “pathetic.”

“You can’t go to a theme park and hear the words, “Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls.” What’s going on?” he told the panel.

“You’ve got this small group of very vocal, very woke people, very active online, and they bully companies into following their narrow world view.”
