Royal birthday wishes for Princess Anne with throwback photos

Princess Anne turned 67 on August 15, and the royal family has shared their tributes on social media, with a few lovely throwback photos to boot.

The Princess Royal, her official title, was born second in line to the throne.

Featuring an image of her at her christening with Queen Elizabeth, the social media post on The Royal Family’s Instagram says she was born in 1950 and started undertaking public work at 18. “Her Royal Highness is now involved with over 300 charities, organisations & military regiments in the UK and overseas,” the post says.

Even Prince Charles features in the birthday love too. This throwback image of the siblings was shared on the Clarence House Instagram page, the official site representing the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall.

Princess Anne is known for her love of all things equestrian, and is often spotted in riding attire more than regal gowns.

But there are times she adorns the fashions more expected of royalty, such as this banquet during a state visit by the King and Queen of Spain in July.

As well as her relaxed fashion style, she’s also known for taking a relaxed view of her royalty. Neither of  her children, Zara and Peter, have titles. When Anne married Mark Phillips in 1973 they turned down the offer of an earldom that was offered to Mark by the Queen.

Princess Charlotte is next in line to be the next Princess Royal. That will only happen if William is king and Princess Anne is no longer alive.
