She may be busy preparing for her upcoming wedding but that hasn’t stopped Meghan Markle from winning more fans around the world.

The 36-year-old travelled to Edinburgh for her first ever visit to Scotland. She was accompanied by her husband-to-be, Prince Harry, on another highly-publicised royal appearance. One of the first stops on their trip to the Scottish city was a visit to the famous Edinburgh Castle.

The pair happily stopped and interacted with the thousands of people who lined the streets to catch a glimpse of the newest royal family member. Fans waved flags and presented the happy couple with gifts and well-wishes as they arrived at the Esplanade of the castle.

They were treated to the firing of One o’Clock Gun as temperatures in the picturesque town plummeted. Thankfully, Meghan was dressed for the occasion.

She wore an incredible tartan coat by Burberry, paying tribute to Scotland. The lavish green coat is believed to have cost £1,995 (A$3,524, U$2,770). She’s also not the first royal female to wear the iconic pattern in Scotland. Princess Diana famously wore a tartan wool dress on her first visit royal engagement when she was just 26 years old.

Meghan opted for trousers for this visit, wearing a pair of Veronica Beard slacks to keep her warm. She wore her luscious brown locks down for the event and was all smiles throughout the day. She also carried a small leather handbag for the event. The bag is said to be from Strathberry, a local brand from Edinburgh. Meanwhile, Prince Harry kept warm in a grey coat and smart pair of trousers.

The pair also giggled as they came face-to-face with an adorable Shetland Pony. The beloved mascot was wearing a coat very similar to the one Meghan was wearing and even got a bit playful with Harry at one stage.

The next stop for the pair was at the Social Bite café, an enterprise that provides more than 100,000 homeless people in Scotland with food each year. The café also has staff who were previously homeless. The pair were keen to chat with staff and talk about their experiences and how they changed their lives around.

“Prince Harry and Ms. Markle hear more from staff about their experiences, and how @SocialBite_ has helped them to overcome homelessness,” a message by Kensington Palace on Twitter read.

The final part of the day was a visit to the Palace of Holyroodhouse where the pair celebrated youth as part of Scotland’s Year of Young People 2018 initiative. It’s all about celebrating and recognising the achievements of Scotland’s younger community members and about providing them with new and exciting opportunities.

Their trip to Scotland was Meghan and Harry’s fourth public appearance together. They have previously appeared in Nottingham, London and Cardiff in Wales.

The latest visit comes after Princess Diana’s former butler Paul Burrell confirmed that Prince Charles was Prince Harry’s father on a recent episode of I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here!.
