Five super useful homemade cleaner recipes

Cleaning is unfortunately a necessary part of life if we want to live in a healthy home. 

Unfortunately, many cleaning products on the market are far from healthy, both for you, the environment, and your hip pocket. Do you ever wander down the cleaning product aisle of your supermarket resenting the fact you have to spend so much money on what is ultimately a chore?

Many people don’t even think of making their own products, but it’s really quite easy.

Here are a few recipes that will help you keep your home clean, yourself healthy, reduce your environmental impact, and keep your purse fatter!

1. All-purpose cleaner

Mix together 2 teaspoons of baking soda, 4 tablespoons of white vinegar and 400ml water and place into a spray bottle. Shake to mix thoroughly and get spraying!

2. Gentle scrub

Mix together 3 quarters of a cup of baking soda, a quarter cup of Castile soap (available at hardware stores), and 2 tablespoons of water to form a paste. Store in an airtight container.

3. Laundry detergent

Mix together 1 cup Lectric washing soda, 1 cup Borax, 1 box baking soda, 1 cup Castile soap, 10-15 drops essential oil if you wish, and 17 cups of water. Mix all together and use like you would your regular detergent.

4. Glass cleaner

Mix together a quarter cup of rubbing alcohol, a quarter cup of white vinegar, 2 tablespoons cornflour, 2 cups of warm water, and combine all in a spray bottle. Admire your streak-free windows!

5. Toilet cleaner

Mix together 3 quarters of a cup of borax, 1 cup of white vinegar, a few drops of essential oil, and combine in bowl. Swish with brush and allow to sit a few minutes before scrubbing.
