Thomas Markle ‘will never meet’ Meghan and Harry’s royal baby, expert claims

A royal expert has claimed the Duchess of Sussex’s estranged father is unlikely to ever meet his grandchild due to his tumultuous relationship with the royal couple.

Speaking in a preview of TLC documentary Meghan and Harry: A Royal Baby Story, royal biographer Duncan Larcombe says the chances of Thomas Markle meeting his grandson or granddaughter are slim after what has been a rocky year for him and daughter Meghan.

Discussing the strained father-daughter relationship, Larcombe, author of Prince Harry: The Inside Story, revealed he believes Thomas will have little chance of getting to know the newest member of the British royal family, when the duke and duchess welcome their first child in the coming weeks.

“I can’t think of a minute that Thomas Markle will be able to ever meet his grandson or granddaughter,” Larcombe said in the short clip.

Meghan’s half-sister Samantha Markle was also interviewed as part of the documentary and features in the teaser-trailer, where she adds: “You can’t hurt people like this and then turn around and flip the script and play victim.”

The documentary, set to air in the United States on Tuesday, will focus on Harry and Meghan’s relationship and the arrival of their baby, with the duchess thought to be due at the end of this month or the beginning of May, despite no official confirmation from Buckingham Palace regarding the due date.

The release of the preview follows further reports earlier this year about Meghan’s estrangement from her dad. The rocky relationship between the pair has sadly played out in the public eye ever since Thomas set up a series of paparazzi shots ahead of his daughter’s wedding, which he was then caused to pull out of at the last minute after suffering a heart attack.

In February this year the tension between the two was launched into the spotlight once again as Thomas shared extracts from a heartbreaking five-page letter – which was allegedly written by the Duchess of Sussex herself – with the Mail on Sunday, showing the depths of his daughter’s grief over their estrangement.

Reportedly written after her wedding, the letter accused Thomas of “breaking her heart into a million pieces” before pleading with him to stop lying and speaking to tabloid newspapers without first trying to speak to her.

“Daddy, it is with a heavy heart that I write this, not understanding why you have chosen to take this path, turning a blind eye to the pain you are causing,” the letter read.

Meghan went on to beg: “If you love me, as you tell the press you do, please stop. Please allow us to live our lives in peace,” before adding: “Please stop lying, please stop creating so much pain, please stop exploiting my relationship with my husband.”

Elsewhere, despite both Thomas and Samantha repeatedly claiming that they have tried to reach out to Meghan but either get blocked, or don’t have her phone number, the letter states that her number has never changed and she has no record of Thomas ever trying to contact her.
