The Duchess of Cornwall stepped out for the second full day of her royal tour of New Zealand, alongside husband the Prince of Wales, on Tuesday as the royal couple attended the Ceremony of Welcome at Government House in Wellington.

Camilla and Charles are scheduled to spend eight days in the country, having been requested to visit by Jacinda Ardern’s government, and the pair received a traditional Maori welcome earlier today as they were greeted by the Kaumātua and Kuia before watching a Haka performed by members of the New Zealand Defence Force.

The 72-year-old duchess looked glamorous for the outing as she stepped out in a classic off-white skirt suit, wearing a fitted collarless jacket over a matching A-line pleated skirt. Sticking with the elegant theme of the day, Camilla completed the look with a stunning asymmetrical hat and an understated silver brooch on her left shoulder. Carrying a small beige clutch bag, she finished the ensemble with a pair of her favourite court shoes.

Later in the day, Prince Charles attended a meeting with Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and several photographs of the pair were then shared via Clarence House’s official Instagram page, alongside a caption which read: “The Prince of Wales today attended a meeting with the Prime Minister of New Zealand, @jacindaardern.”

Following the appearance, the royal couple were praised on social media, with one fan writing: “It’s great to see Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornall connecting so easily with people.”

Another wrote: “Great photos. I love Charles and Camilla.” While a third commented: “Love The Prince of Wales! A wonderful father & humanitarian!”

The couple kicked off their visit on Monday with a trip to Mount Roskill War Memorial Park in Auckland – which recognises the contribution of troops from the Pacific Island nation of Nieu in the First World War – where they laid a wreath.

Camilla stuck to one of her most classic looks for the occasion, choosing to wear a smart skirt suit in a flattering shade of pale blue. She accessorised the elegant two-piece with one of her signature four-strand pearl necklaces and a pair of beige court shoes. She also wore a stunning broach, depicting two dragon flies, on her left shoulder.

Following their appearance at the park, the couple then enjoyed a wine tasting at a visit to The Hunting Lodge Winery before attending the Queen’s Colour Ceremony at RNZAF Whenuapai Airbase, where they met serving members of the Royal Air Force.

Camilla and Charles will spend one week in New Zealand, with an official palace statement confirming they will meet Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern during the trip, which will be the couple’s third joint visit of the country.

“During their visit, The Prince and The Duchess will visit programmes and organisations working in areas they are committed to supporting,” the statement read. “The Prince will focus on young people and youth opportunity, as well as environmental issues – with particular emphasis on tackling plastic waste. The Duchess will continue her focus on key themes including domestic violence and literacy.”

As well as meeting the prime minister, Charles and Camilla will receive an official welcome at the Waitangi Treaty Grounds to “honour the relationship between The Crown and the Māori people”. The couple will also visit several locations in Christchurch, with a focus on the city’s resilience following the 2011 earthquake and, more recently, the two Mosque attacks in the city in March.
