Martha Stewart jumps into online dating, “must love dogs, kids and maybe monogamy”

Jun 11, 2013

One of the world’s most eligible over 70’s bachelorettes is trying her hand at online dating.

Martha Stewart has joined Match.com last week and has gathered more than 20,000 page views and 1,000 messages under her alias ‘thegoodlonglife’.

Martha says that sharing her online dating experience publicly is important.

“I just want other women in a similar situation to mine to realise that it can be done,” she said.

Martha says that after writing and publishing her new book, Living the Good Long Life, she was reminded how central good relationships are to happiness and longevity.

Her profile reads, “You may recognise me from my pictures. Yes, it’s really me.

I’ve been curious about online dating for a long time, but, like lots of people, have been reluctant to take the leap. So here I am, looking to enhance my dating life,” she said.

“I had a longtime boyfriend. That ended a couple of years ago and I haven’t found the next Mr Right,” she said.

The entrepreneur and grandmother is seeking a younger man, aged between 55 and 70, who is a non-smoker, over 5’9″ and must earn at least $150,000.

Martha has said that she is looking for a nice smile, a nice appetite for good things… a nice person who’s also funny and witty and smart and hopefully rich enough.

Martha is very firm on what she would not tolerate.

“Somebody who hates children, hates animals, smokes, drinks to excess, all those bad things,” she said.

So far Martha has gone on two dates with potential suitors. Larry is an executive in the international steel trade. He considers himself a romantic, loves traveling, movies, museums, and holding hands, according to his Match.com profile.

Stan is a filmmaker who shoots independent features and commercials, including ones that featured Stewart many years ago. He plays sports, enjoys gardening and meeting people in interesting places “spiced with fun,” according to his online profile.

Martha said she’s already had follow-up conversations with Larry although more for professional reasons rather than private ones.

She has said that since publicising her efforts to find dates, she has had a very positive response and many people have come forward to help.

“Other friends have surfaced, which is great. My lawyer came up with a really great idea the other day, a fix-up,” she said.

We wish Martha all the very best of luck in her pursuit of Mr Right.
