How many people are at home looking after a loved one?

Mar 10, 2017

The government keeps saying “We are putting up millions of dollars to keep people at home.”

My ex-wife was suddenly diagnosed with early dementia. The doctors told my son and I and her that she couldn’t drive anymore and she couldn’t live on her own.

Sadly she didn’t remember this so she naturally got really upset when we kept telling her she couldn’t drive and had to live with us.

She had got sick of me fighting with the government and the Local Council about 16 years ago and had made her own life.

Try as we may we could not find a provider that would help her stay in her own home.

My lungs have been ruined by the government years ago so I have been lucky enough to find one good crowd of ladies and they have been cleaning my house for some years. These providers have given us one and a half hours a week of cleaning.

I personally feel that the government is a bit lousy and could have given us some assistance to look after her.

A lovely neighbour over the road was so independent she wouldn’t take any help, and she ended up so sick that when her daughter found out how sick she was had to put her straight into a home.

The price to put someone in a home now is unreal, and I wonder what happens to people that don’t have the necessary $450,000.

When I heard she was not well, I rang her but she was so independent she didn’t want me to know she was incapable of living alone.

Just wanted to put this out there to see if people are in the same boat or am I just an old winger (kidding).
