North Korea’s threatening message for Australia

While the US Vice-President Mike Pence is visiting Australia, there will no doubt be talks about the growing issues with North Korea and its leader Kim Jong-un.

After meeting with Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbill, Vice-President Pence said to the press, “As President Trump made clear a few days ago, if China is unable to deal with North Korea, the United States and our allies will”.  He added, “Mr Prime Minister, know that President Trump and I are truly grateful to you for calling on China even this week to play an even more active and constructive role in addressing the North Korean threat.”

A spokesperson for the North Korean Foreign Ministry told the ABC that Australia kept “spouting a string of rubbish” against North Korea, referencing Foreign Minister Julie Bishop’s recent interview where she said that North Korea’s nuclear weapons program is a “serious threat” to Australia, that it could be dangerous for us.

The spokesperson said, “The present Government of Australia is blindly and zealously toeing the US line”.  They added, “If Australia persists in following the US’ moves to isolate and stifle North Korea … this will be a suicidal act of coming within the range of the nuclear strike of the strategic force of North Korea.”

Julie Bishop was also warned for her comments.  The spokesperson warned Ms Bishop to “better think twice about the consequences to be entailed by her reckless tongue-lashing before flattering the US”.  Then added, “What she uttered can never be pardoned”.

What do you think of the situation? Is Australia following blindly into the situation? Or Is Australia doing its part to keep the peace?
