Malcolm Turnbull takes selfie at his harbourside mansion

The PM has been busy hosting a number of world leaders this week.

He’s been called “Mr Harbourside Mansion” by the Labor party and it seems prime minister Malcolm Turnbull isn’t shying away from it.

The PM hosted a dinner with his wife Lucy for visiting Indonesian president Jokowi Widodo and his wife Ibu Iriana at his Sydney home and took a selfie of the foursome as they enjoyed the sunset from his balcony.

With views of the harbour and plenty of yachts dotted across the water, the group smiled happily for the photo, which Widodo later shared on his Twitter account, saying “PM Malcolm Turnbull and Mrs. Lucy Turnbull received us with warmth and friendship”.

Turnbull made headlines when he first took office for deciding not to downsize into the official government residence, Kirribilli House, and stay in his own home instead.

While most prime ministers move into the house and redesign the interior to suit their own taste, Turnbull decided he would be more comfortable in his waterfront mansion.

Turnbull is one of our richest prime ministers, with an estimated worth of $200 million.

He made the majority of his fortune prior to his political career when he worked as a lawyer and as co-chairman of Goldman Sach’s Australia unit.

He also had a stake in local internet service provider OzEmail, which is sold for a tidy sum.

While it has come back to bite him throughout his political career, with Labor branding him “out of touch” with regular folk, others say it’s to our benefit to have a PM who understands economics and how to run a business.

What do you think? Would you like to wake up to that view? Do you think it’s good to have a PM with Turnbull’s expertise? Or do you think he’s out of touch?
