Let’s Talk: Is Donald Trump America’s worst president?

Bombshell allegations by former FBO director James Comey have landed the 45th President of the United States in impeachment territory.

Comey released a statement about his conversations with US President Donald Trump ahead of tomorrow’s hotly anticipated testimony at the Senate Intelligence Committee.

In the memo, Comey claims Trump pressured him to drop the investigation into National Security Advisor Michael Flynn, then prodded him to end the FBI’s investigation into his campaign’s ties to the Kremlin.

If proved true, the damning claims constitute an obstruction of justice by the president and could see him forced to front the US Congress.

Meanwhile, Trump has recorded his worst ever ratings in the polls, recording a negative 34 per cent.

A survey by the independent Quinnipiac University revealed this is President Donald Trump’s lowest score so far as American voters continue to lose confidence in their Commander in Chief.

But is he the worst president ever?

The same poll showed that 68 per cent don’t believe the President is level-headed, which is no surprise considering what he’s been up to of late.

First he fired the head of the FBI James Comey after reports emerged the latter was investigating the President’s dealings with Russia.

Fun fact: Thirty-one per cent of American voters say Trump did something illegal with the Kremlin while another 29 per cent say he did something unethical, but not illegal.

Comey will give testimony in a highly-anticipated Congressional hearing regarding his interactions with Trump and it’s got everyone salivating over the juicy details.

It’s come to light the former FBI director has written documentation of his interactions with the President, which could potentially blow a massive hole in the story Trump has been shopping around about the pair’s face-to-face time.

According to the poll’s findings, more than half of American voters think Trump is “too friendly” with Russia, while 68 per cent are “very concerned” about his relationship with Russia.

Next, Trump recently pulled out of the Paris Climate Deal and Americans were not happy – 62 per cent disapproved of his decision.

Ironically, Trump harassed former President Barack Obama to push a global climate change pact back in 2009 by paying for an ad in the New York Times urging the then president to “lead the world by example”.

And today, a former US intelligence chief ranked Watergate as less of a scandal than the leaks tearing through Trump’s administration.

“I think if you compare the two…Watergate pales really, in my view compared to what we’re confronting now,” James Clapper told the National Press Club in Canberra.

According to Clapper, who was the director of National Intelligence under President Obama, there were concerns among US intelligence authorities about forwarding information to the Trump White House.

“I am very concerned about the assault on our institutions coming from both an external source — read Russia — and an internal source, the President himself,” Clapper said.

Do you think Trump is America’s worst president? Or is this just a difficult phase?
