United States president Donald Trump has vowed to boost his country’s armed forces and defence capabilities in an impassioned speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Maryland.
Calling on the nationalist polices he campaigned on, Trump told the crowd he would make a massive budget request for one of the “greatest military buildups in American history”.
He said he planned on boosting both the military’s defensive and offensive power to make it “bigger and better and stronger than ever before.”
“And, hopefully, we’ll never have to use it, but nobody is going to mess with us. Nobody. It will be one of the greatest military buildups in American history,” Trump said.
Following the speech, he took to social media to call on the “millions of people who voted to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN” to have their own rally in support of him.
Maybe the millions of people who voted to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN should have their own rally. It would be the biggest of them all!

Meanwhile, Trump also announced he is pulling out of the annual White House Correspondents Dinner following a lengthy public spat with several media organisations.
The dinner is usually a humorous affair with past presidents using the occasion to show off their relaxed side and poke fun at themselves and the media.
On Saturday (local time) Trump’s administration barred several high-profile news outlets, including The New York Times and CNN, from a media briefing, before slamming them for using unnamed sources in their coverage of him.

“They shouldn’t be allowed to use sources unless they use somebody’s name. Let their name be out there,” Trump said.
