David Cassidy opens up about relationship with his daughter

David Cassidy has opened up about his relationship with his actress daughter Katie.

As you might have read, David Cassidy has had a big couple of days after announcing he has dementia.

Now, The Partridge Family star has made another admission, and as a parent you might be able to relate to what he has said.

The 66-year-old told People Magazine that he has “never had a relationship” with his daughter, actress Katie Cassidy.

While he is Katie’s biological father, Cassidy admitted he hadn’t played a big role in her life and the two weren’t in contact.

“She has a completely different life,” he told People.

“I’m proud of her. She’s very talented. It’s hard for me to even accept how old she is now, like 30.”

For many of us as we get older, falling out with, losing contact or growing apart from family is a sad reality.

Whether by drifting apart or having a rift, there are many people over-60 who have lost contact with one of their children.

Unfortunately for Cassidy, battles with alcohol addiction haven’t helped.

But luckily he still maintains a close relationship with his son, Beau.

Cassidy told People that Beau was “a beautiful person” and “one of the best people you’ll ever meet in your life”.

“He knows that I’m just a little off,” Cassidy said.

“Sometimes he cocks his head at me a little bit and goes, ‘Dad do you remember?’ and I say, ‘No, I know I do, I remember.’ He’ll give me reminders once in a while.”

No doubt he’s hoping to rebuild the relationship with his daughter before his condition worsens.
