Aussie model hailed a hero after incident on ice

An Aussie has helped save lives of teens, after they fell through ice in the US.

An Australian model has been called a hero after saving the lives of seven teenagers in the US.
The teens were playing on a frozen pond on Monday night in Central Park, Manhattan, when the ice broke and they fell in.
Australian model Ethan Turnbull, 24, and his friend Bennett Jonas, 23, were skateboarding past and saw the ice collapse.

Ethan’s friend Bennett said he went into the water and Ethan followed, with the pair working as a team to pull the kids out.
Speaking to the local television station NY1, Ethan described how the kids panicked, but they were able to get get them all out.

“He was just passing the kids at the end and I was just throwing them up and over the fence,” Mr Turnbull said.

The teens, aged 15 and 16, were all pulled out safely and treated for hypothermia, with one taken to hospital.

“Some of those kids would have gone under the water if we didn’t go in, so God was looking out for them and was looking out for me and I was in this park for a reason tonight,” Bennett said.

Ethan said on Instagram he was there are the right place, right time and was fortunate enough to have been in the position to help.
