A fatal attraction keeps drawing this couple back together

You’ll remember this pair as the lovers whose affair goes horribly wrong in Fatal Attraction.

Glenn Close and Michael Douglas, the stars of the 1987 hit thriller, got together again on Thursday, this time at a theatre in New York.

Douglas, pictured below with Close, who’s still in makeup for her role, was at the Palace Theatre to support his former co-star at a performance of her award-winning musical Sunset Boulevard. Close plays faded Hollywood star Norma Desmond in the musical.

People reports that Douglas and Close have remained friends since their movie premiered 30 years ago.

“Glenn and I did a little movie in [the 1980s] which stood a lot of people on their heads, called Fatal Attraction,” Douglas told the Association of American Retired People’s Movies for Grown Ups awards last year. Douglas was receiving the Career Achievement Award at the event.

“It was a brave film, it’s part of the memory of those films that keeps us all together and our friendships [thriving].”

Fatal Attraction, about a married man, Dan Gallagher, played by Douglas, who has a one-night stand with Close’s obsessive Alex Forrest, got rave reviews, shocking audiences at the time with a scene in which Alex takes revenge on the Gallagher family pet, spawning the term “bunny boiler.”

Close was nominated for a Best Actress Oscar for her performance but lost to Cher in Moonstruck.

Douglas recently battled tongue cancer but is now in remission.

Do you remember what a stir Fatal Attraction caused when it hit the cinemas? Does it seem tame compared to today’s movies?
