1. You’ll decrease your stress hormones

Taking a holiday is one of the best ways to destress and if you throw a bit of lovemaking in the mix, then you can say hello to health and happiness in the process. A recent study found that 77 per cent of couples who travel together are less stressed. “When we’re relaxed during romantic getaways, our brains release chemicals such as oxytocin, which makes us feel close and loving,” the study said. So take some time during your next trip and schedule some time for some lovemaking.

2. And increase your healthy ones

Sex on holiday can do wonders for your happiness levels. According to Olympic athlete Annett Davis, having sex can increase good hormones in the body which can stop you from getting sick. “Sex releases a hormone that helps you ward off germs and viruses, helping to keep you healthy,” she says.

3. It will add years to your life

This is especially important for the men, because the more a man orgasms throughout his life, the better it is for his longevity. “For men, the more [sex] the better,” says 62-year-old doctor, Michael Roizen. “The typical man who has 350 orgasms a year, versus the national average of around a quarter of that, lives about four years longer.” A bit of hanky-panky is just what the doctor ordered, it seems.

4. And make you appreciate your age

No doubt the older we get the more our bodies change. There are places that jiggle that never used to, and spots and marks that definitely weren’t there yesterday. But what better way to explore the changing nature of the human form than by being intimate with your significant other. Take some time to appreciate your own body and that of your partner’s with some steamy lovemaking.

5. It reduces blood pressure

Good news, gentlemen, because studies have shown that having sex can actually reduce the risk of stroke and heart disease in men. “Middle aged men should be heartened to know that frequent sexual intercourse is not likely to result in a substantial increase in risk of strokes, and that some protection from fatal coronary events may be an added bonus,” the study says.
