A haircut can make all the difference for an over-60.

Our hair starts to change as we get older. It can thin out, change texture, get drier and above all go grey. Our facial features change too and you may start to find that the hairstyle you sported in your 40s will no longer suit you.

You would be surprised how your hair can impact your life. If your hair looks fantastic, you will feel fantastic. We believe all women deserve to look and feel their best.

It softens your features and it will also help protect the skin on your forehead from the damaging effects of the sun. Framing your face is always a much kinder look than having your hair scraped harshly back from your face, highlighting all blemishes.

Here are our favourite haircuts and styling tips to give you your most flattering hair yet!

The Pixie
This style is perfect for ladies who want to highlight their face and who have fine hair. Keep it soft and fun like Dame Judi Dench here.

The Blunt Bob
If you have fine to medium hair, this style is perfect for you. Keep it sleek and shiny like Olivia Newton John.

The Shag

Have you got medium to thick hair? Try this and keep it soft, fun and full of movement.

Cropped Bob

These styles are perfect for all types of hair. The rounder your face, the longer the length is best. Keep this soft with tousled layers.

Choppy Lob

This style is terrific for everyone as the layers create movement and keep you looking young. A lob like Diane Keaton’s is a very flattering style – especially if you have a round face.

Soft Side Part

Centre parts can be harsh so go for side soft parts which are much more flattering. They also help to highlight your cheekbones.

Soft around the face

Soft waves and fringes can really add a youthful look. Keep it light and fluffy and avoid using too much product.

We hope you have found these style tips useful. Your hair is important, so take care of it and enjoy it!

Which of these is your favourite hairstyle?  Can you see it working for you?

  1. Gillian Simpson

These ladies all have straight hair, what if you’re over 60 and have wild curly hair, like mine. No=one ever has styles for curly hair,

    • Robyn Butler

I am with you Gillian. Would love to see some styles for wild curly hair too!!

      • Marion

Me too, short medium or long my hair is curly/frizzy

  2. Tessa

If a hair style calls for a trim every six weeks, forget it. I can’t afford it. Hence the long hair with a self cut fringe. Tie it back every morning and put it up to go out occasionally.

  3. Sandra Walker

I’ve got hair half way down my back and am going to have it cut on Saturday – I think the cropped bob will be best for me (round face)
I’m not saying it’s going to be cut again in the next 2 years though lol.

  4. Janet Foster

I am so envious of Helen Miram’s hair style of cropped bob, this was my hair style until breast cancer when I lost my hair and it re-grew into very fine, thin hair..

    • Anna Christophersen

I am exactly the same Janet. Very thick hair now very thin.

  5. Susan Bell

not a single style for long hair, this is, to say the least agism.

    • KivaG

      Agree!!
I have long, thick, wavy white hair and wouldn’t cut it for the world. I’m 67 and get compliments from men and women of all ages.
