Gable Tostee speaks out during his 60 Minutes interview.

60 Minutes has given a peek into its exclusive interview with Gable Tostee and it’s left many viewers outraged.

Tostee was found not guilty of the murder of New Zealand tourist Warriena Wright last month after she fell to her death from his balcony in 2014.

Both 60 Minutes and Sunday Night went into a bidding war over Tostee’s story, with Channel Nine ultimately winning with a reportedly massive six-figure sum.

Now they have aired a clip showing part of the interview and it’s left some viewers with chills.

After listening to audio of Warriena’s cries, 60 Minutes reporter Liam Bartlett prompts Tostee to react.

“She says no there 33 times Gable,” Barlett said.

“Yeah she was certainly trying to make a lot of noise,” replies Tostee.

Earlier in the piece, he can be heard defending his actions.

“I restrained her to stop her from attacking me,” Tostee said.

“I don’t know what else to do. I wanted it to stop.”

Later, Barlett asks him if he understands why so many people dislike him.

“Can you understand why many people would think you’re a cold, heartless, cruel bastard?” he asks.

“When you put it that way, umm,” Tostee replied, before the interview appeared to be cut.

Backlash over the interview started quickly online after the 45-second snippet aired.

“60 Minutes instead of interviewing Gable Tostee and paying him a 6 figure amount use the money to educate men on what no actually means,” wrote one woman.

“I hope 60 minutes aren’t paying gable tostee a cent for his interview seems like a joke,” said another angry viewer.

“If #60minutes had any credibility left it has lost it paying for #Tostee interview Can’t believe he profits from her death as well,” said one man.

And they kept on coming: “Please tell me #60mins hasn’t paid Gable Tostee to get his head on TV? Have some respect for her family’s loss.”

“So Tostee the tosser profits >$100k from someone’s death? #despicable #60Minutes.”

What are your thoughts after watching?

Do you think Gable Tostee should profit from this case? Should the media have even bought his story?

    • I agree Jean – it is reprehensible of Channel Nine to pay this reprobate in a bid for sensationalism & to keep Channel 7 from winning the ratings war.
It is also reprehensible that we are seen as a nation of people who listen to such monstrous drivel.

    • this jerk should get not a cent ,he should be in prison any money that this creature gets should go to the girls family ,as for his excuses THERE ARE NON ,A YOUNG WOMAN IS DEAD AND HE GETS HIS SMUG FACE ON TV disgusting file man

  2. surely a man of that size could have restrained the young lady and put her out in the passage on the other side of the door if he was so concerned about HIS safety

    • Totally agree, have been saying this to my daughters, his size, her size but he can’t restrain her and put out the front door. I just don’t understand why he locked her on the balcony and now gets paid to explain. I feel so sad for her family, especially her Mum.

    • About the low level of journalism and sensational rubbish we have come to expect from 60 Minutes.

  3. 60 Minutes used to be a respectable program – it is so sad to see Channel Nine management devolving into sensationalism for the sake of a ratings war with the Channel 7 mob. Paying this sad reprobate an immense sum for his sick ramblings is nothing less disgusting – this girl’s family are hurting badly, have some humanity.

By the way – definition of sensationalism: (especially in journalism) the presentation of stories in a way that is intended to provoke public interest or excitement, at the expense of accuracy. “media sensationalism”

    • Another example of Channel 9 indulging its gruesome fascination of trial by media. A Current Affair does it almost nightly!

    • 60minutes was never a respectable program!

  4. Money talked there , he i think and my opinion he killed a young woman threw her over the balcony , went to eat and rang daddy , i hope karma gets the fat ass

  5. That’s it for me with 60 minutes, paying for that tosser to tell “his” side of the story..100k …rediculas,…SORRY YOUR JUST AMBULANCE. CHASERS ..YOUVE LOST ME

  6. Well all I can say is the money needs to go to charity or the girls family! Sorry 60 minutes you should have made sure any money paid went to someone else. I really feel 60 minutes has let us the public and themselves down.

  7. I hope 60 Minutes didn’t pay him, but if they did, well, they couldn’t go much lower in my estimation. Never watch it. As for Tostee, I wasn’t in the courtroom but I have to wonder about that Jury.

  8. Seems the evil come out on top and victims get life . Well done 60 minutes you keep that system alive . Disgusting way to get a story no matter what 😡

  9. 60 Minutes has lost all credibility. The court should have put an order from him selling and profiting from this. Any money paid should be paid to the poor girl’s family that slime ball should not get a cent. Has absolutely no remorse or accountability for that night. Thoughts are with the family of Warriena. Sad society when scum profit.

  10. I am horrified to think that Sixty Minutes paid Tostee for this interview – they should be ashamed of themselves. This is not journalism this is purely for ratings at the cost of a life appalling.
The fact that he got of scott free also amazes me – how can there be justice when the justice system is so pathetic.
If those tapes were not enough for anyone to realise that Tostee was not taking NO as an answer – what girl would not try to attack him in an attempt to get away. He is so guilty – that poor girl lost her life because she said NO to a low life full of himself – a predator of women. What did he do casually saunter out of the building without a thought for her. I agree Sixty Minutes after your last debacle with Tara Brown you should have had more sense than to run this and pay the scum for the story.

    • I believe she was saying no to him putting her out of his apartment after she had trashed it. Nothing more and nothing less.

And no reasonable person could ever contemplate another person being so stupid as to try and climb over a balcony at that height.

  11. No way should he be paid for it .If sixty minutes are paying him for an interview then they have gone down in my estimation and I loved there programs but certainly wont be watching this one

  12. A young woman is dead.
She was in his apartment, locked out on his balcony.
    I rest my case.

    • And what reasonable person would think that another person would even contemplate climbing over a balcony at that height !!!

      She killed herself, not him.

And she had already trashed his apartment !! she was a nutter.

      • Finally, some words of reason!

        Totally agree, Wiso.

He had to hold her because she was off her head and he put her out the nearest door rather than drag her across the room.

One would have thought she would just calm down out there.

He cannot be held accountable for her own bad personal choices nor the consequences of them.

      • I believe she said NO 33 times but he made no effort to let her out the front door instead he shoved her out onto the balcony and locked the door while she was emotionally upset. Also more than a little curious as to why he had to record their conversation but never made any attempt to open the front door for her to leave. I guess he weighed about a 100 k and she weighed 40 + k and there was no mention of him having any physical impairment. So the whole truth is something we will never hear.
