It’s not been a great week for one of Australia’s most popular supermarkets – there’s been another recall of their popular products, this time in the bakery section.

Aldi has issued an urgent recall of hotdog buns after metal shavings were found in them.

The six-pack Bakers Life Hotdog Rolls, best before date of July 14, 2016 have been recalled in NSW and ACT, reports the ABC.

In a statement, Aldi said it “takes product quality and safety seriously”.

“The recall is due to the potential presence of foreign objects (metal shavings) in the product,” it said.

“Consumers should not consume this product. Customers should return the product to the place of purchase for a full cash refund.”

Just last week, the NSW Food Authority advised customers across Australia to return Hillcrest Chewy Choc Squiggle Muesli Bars, with the best before date of May 10, 2017 as the product was found to contain an undeclared peanut allergen, which can be fatal for those with allergies.

According to the ACCC Product Recall website, this most recent recall is part of a total 80+ products that have been recalled in the past month in Australia, though most were from the automotive or motorcycle industry.

  1. It certainly won’t stop me shopping there, this happens at other Supermarkets too so dont dump on Aldi for something that happens to all retailers at different times.

  2. No, but i don’t shop there anyway; too far to travel. Of more concern is the tone of your articles about Aldi. Very biased! Does the writer’s spouse hold an executive position at one of the big 2, or is this site owned by Mamamia, also very biased?

  3. There is no point in blaming Aldi. It is their suppliers who need to be blamed. Aldi is doing the right thing to recall products that have something wrong with them. Just be thankful that the company is alert and ready to pounce as soon as they find a problem. Woollies, Coles and IGA et al have things go wrong with their products and a lot more of them because they carry an enormous range of goods, whereas Aldi has about 2000 products and doesn’t have too many of each.

  4. Haven’t shopped there, & wouldn’t, as has limited range of products, & their monies’ go back to Germany, don’t stay here to help Oz.

  5. It won’t stop me shopping there but was really disappointed yesterday when I saw one of the employees pick up some broccoli off the floor and put it back into the shelf container … please …. in the bin when its on the floor where hundreds of people have walked …

  7. Omgoodness this is usual practise with all of the supermarkets. Recalls are safety measures …. Aldis dont personally make the items at their OWN factory or package them instore, they do the same as ALL the other Supermarkets and buy them!!! What a load of rubbish!!!!!! This constant bias is really wearing thin with me…. Did you do a Big Exposè wen Woolies recently sparked a “spider in the greens ” rush of similar horror stories or the weekend COles HOT chicken purchase found complete with extra protein of a writhing white grub slithering across the poor chickens fatty breast…. NO???? and why not these are more pertinent health concerns than manufacturer recalls which are out of Aldis control the same as the BIG Two !!!!!!
