It’s no secret that vinegar is a multipurpose ingredient but we think these are the best three ways to use it that we’ve ever tried!

Which do you think is the most effective?

1. Clean a smelly or clogged drain

Do you have a clogged or smelly drain? This is an easy fix. Simply add a cup of bicarb soda to any drain and let it sit for an hour. Then, boil 2 cups of vinegar and dump it down the drain. Run hot water and your drain will no longer smell. Easy!

2. Steam clean your microwave

Mix half a cup of white vinegar, half a cup of water and the juice of half a lemon in a microwave-safe bowl. Bring to a boil inside the microwave for a couple of minutes the baked-on food will be loosened, and odours will disappear. Wipe the inside of the microwave clean.

3. Clear clogged shower heads

Mineral deposits and blockages can put a damper on your shower time. To get the water flowing, remove the shower head and place in 1 litre of boiling water with ½ cup distilled vinegar for ten minutes. Use hot, not boiling, for plastic showerheads. If you have a non-removable showerhead, fill a small plastic bag half full with vinegar and tape it over the fixture. Remove the bag after about an hour and wipe off any remaining vinegar from the showerhead.

Do you have any other uses for vinegar to add?

  2. Very similar to Fran! I use vinegar, eucalyptus, or tea-tree oil with water. I use it as a general cleaner. Smells lovely!

  3. Great for cleaning mirrors and glass showers. Down side is our cabins at Buckenderra smell like Caesar salad lol. We also use white vinegar to clean kettles. Just half fill with vinegar and boil. Vinegar can be reused to clean other kettles. Fill kettle with water and boil again to get rid of vinegar taste.
