Scary incidents on the set of iconic horror movies

It doesn’t matter if you believe in the supernatural or not when unexplainable things happen, the hairs stand up on the back of your neck. Now imagine that those things are happening while you are working on some of the scariest horror films of all time. Here are some real scary incidents that happened on horror movie sets.

The Amityville Horror
Both the original and remake of this horror classic had their fair share of “scary” moments. The movie was inspired by a real murder case which saw an entire family killed in their sleep under strange circumstances. For the 1979 original actor James Brolin wanted nothing to do with the film. The only reason he eventually agreed was that of an experience his had one spooky night. He was reading the script for the film when he got to a particular hair-raising part. While he was engrossed in the script, a pair of pants suddenly fell off a hanger which caused Brolin almost to need some new pants of his own. It was that terror that made him realised that this was the next picture he was going to make.

On the 2005 remake of The Amityville Horror, star Ryan Reynolds claimed that members of the cast and crew had problems sleeping and reported that they were waking at the same time every night. It was the same time for everyone; 3:15 AM. Reynolds looked into the significance of the time and found that it was the time that the real life murders that inspired the film took place.

The Omen
Considered one of the most “cursed” films in cinema history The Omen was the film that seemed to be telling its cast and crew that it didn’t want to be made. While the suicide of star Gregory Peck’s son is often lumped in with the film, it did happen two months before production started on the film. During filming strange things started happening when a crew member was in a car accident, not hurt, no one batted an eyelash. Then the scriptwriter’s plane was struck by lighting and just eight hours later the plane that was transporting Gregory Peck, and the executive producer of the film was also hit.

Their plane trouble peaked when a plane they had hired for a scene had to postpone while it took some businesspeople on a short trip. Just after takeoff the plane reported a problem but crashed onto a busy road hitting two cars. Everyone involved lost their lives.

The Exorcist
Still considered one of the scariest films of all time it had a lot of creepy things happen during the production. No more so than parts of the sets, which included the bedroom where most of the film takes place, suddenly burst into flames. The blaze couldn’t be contained, and it destroyed the sets. Once rebuilt the crew was so freaked out that they all chipped in and had a real exorcism done on the set.

What are some of the scariest unexplained things that you have experienced? Do you know of other films that have had some scary incidents?
