The Californian quintet from the 60s are among the most unmistakable and enduring of the rock and roll era, and this song is no exception.

Written by Brian Wilson and Mike Love for The Beach Boys, it was released as a single through their record label, Capitol Records in 1964. It went on to become the first US number one charting song for the band and is included as the opening track on the studio album All Summer Long.

It was the first Beach Boys song to break the top 10 charts in England and a performance on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1964 made it a live performance favourite.

Do you remember singing along with The Beach Boys to these lyrics?

I get around
Get around round round I get around
From town to town
Get around round round I get around
I’m a real cool head
Get around round round I get around
I’m makin’ real good bread
Get around round round I get around
I get around
Get around round round oooo
Wah wa ooo
Wah wa ooo
Wah wa ooo

  1. The ironic fact is the Beach Boys who gave us the “surf sound” didn’t particularly like the beach and were’nt “surfies.” Their recording “Good Vibrations” is a rock masterpiece.

  2. 1st album I bought back in the 60’s was the Beach Boys Lil Deuce Coupe and I still have it !!!!!

  3. Love all the Beach Boys songs. Have their CD sing along to it on my 1 and 1/2hr drive home from work each day. Have ticket to their concert at Jupiter’s casino in the Gold Coast on the 16th Nov. I was a surfer girl in the 60’s.
