Canberra’s annual flower show has been more colourful and delightful that ever before this year, but what happens to all those flowers now it’s over?

Organisers of the Canberra Floriade posted this wonderful message on their Facebook page today:

“The gates may have closed for another year, but Floriade is continuing to spread joy throughout Canberra. This morning our beautiful blooms were cut and delivered to hospitals and nursing homes in Canberra. Our volunteers, sponsors and partners were also given the opportunity to take some bulbs home.”

The committee also shared these beautiful images of the iconic bulbs of Floriade being removed as the festival is dismantled for yet another year.

More than one million flowers were on display at this beautiful spring festival.

  1. It’s a few years since I’ve been. Every year I say I must go, maybe next year. It is well worth attending. The tulips have got to be my favourite.

  2. The tulips at Bowral! Went to both Floriade and Tulip Time this year and Bowral gets my vote – absolutely stunning.

  3. I haven’t had the pleasure however my favourites would have to be the Tulips, they are so beautiful.

  4. Never been but would love to maybe next year. Favourite flower of course would have to be ROSES!!

  5. We have only been once…19 years ago, but it was a magnificent spectacle. Then we had a day and overnight at Bowral on the way to the next place on our itinerary. Both places were fantastic, so much to see and do. Highly recommended.
