No bake banana split slice

The banana split is a classic, old-fashioned dessert that almost everyone loves. As opposed to the usual method, this fresh take on the old favourite makes enough for everyone to enjoy.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 2 packets (400g) butternut snap biscuits, crushed 
  • 225g cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 3 cups icing sugar
  • 4 bananas, sliced
  • 1 1/2 cups thickened cream, whipped
  • Strawberry topping
  • 1 cup walnuts or pecans, chopped
  • Chocolate topping
  • 1 tablespoon sprinkles

Method

1. In a medium mixing bowl, combine crushed butternut snap biscuits and melted butter.

2. Firmly press into the bottom of a 23x33cm baking or slice dish to make a crust. Allow to chill in the freezer for about 10 minutes to firm up.

3. Cream together the cream cheese, 1/4 cup butter, and icing sugar in a medium mixing bowl, and spread the cream cheese mixture over the cooled crust.

4. Layer the sliced bananas over the cream cheese mixture, then spread the whipped cream evenly over the bananas using a spatula. 

5. Garnish with the nuts and sprinkles, and drizzle with the chocolate and strawberry toppings.

6. Chill for at least 4 hours before cutting into squares to serve.
