Flashback: Rocking the dots

May 04, 2013

On this day in 1966 a famous fun-for-the-whole-family board game was showcased on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson when Johnny paired up with Eva Gabor for a round.

This was a board game where you became the playing piece and saw entire family’s tied in knots and where contortionists had an unfair advantage.

With their right foot on green, their left hand on yellow and their right foot over then under their sister whilst reaching out for blue, this board game did more for bringing families together than Sunday mass ever did…real close.

Yes that’s right, Twister.

Despite some claiming its producer, Milton Bradley, was accused of producing sex in a box, the game quickly became a global sensation, a craze that saw millions of units sold.

What are some of your Twister memories?
