Flashback: Remember John Lennon’s final televised song…

A political and anti-war activist and world renown musical genius, John Lennon liked to make a point with his lyrics. 38 years on, the 13th of June marks the day that Lennon made his final major public performance singing “Imagine” in 1975.

 

“Imagine” has been highly revered as a powerful historic counterpart that has shaped the rock and roll of the world. It has recieved a Grammy Hall of Fame Award, has been ranked by Rolling Stone as the number 3 in the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time and, has been continuously adopted in campaigns for world peace, poverty and diversity internationally. Many artists including Madonna, Elton John and Queen to name a few, have performed the song with many other artist covering the song. When released as a single in the UK in 1975, it reached number 6 in the charts. Following Lennon’s death in 1980, it reached number 1.

We were really excited to find John Lennon’s entire final performance at the Salute for Sir Lew Grade. Listening to some of these great classic songs and even more, the quality of the film was a real treat…
